Free Ornamental & Geometric CNC Relief Heightmaps
Mandalas, Celtic knots, decorative frames, fleur-de-lis, the ornamental stuff is where a CNC really earns its keep. The repeating detail would take forever by hand, and it scales and tiles cleanly on a router. Every file is a 16-bit grayscale heightmap that drops straight into VCarve, Carveco, or Aspire as a 3D relief. Set your size, pick a ball-nose finishing pass, and let it run. All free, no strings.

Wood: Hardwoods like walnut and oak hold crisp geometric edges. For painted pieces, MDF cuts clean and cheap.
Finish: Geometric reliefs look sharp with a paint-and-sand-back treatment, or a dark wax rubbed into the recesses.
Bits: Rough with a 1/8" ball nose, then finish with a 1/32" or 1mm tapered ball for the tight interlaces.
