Wood: White oak and teak suit the theme and hold up to humidity. Cedar carves easy and smells great for signs.
Finish: Spar urethane if it will see weather. For indoor pieces, a satin oil finish.
Bits: A 1/4" ball nose to rough, then a 1/16" tapered ball nose to finish the rope and lettering detail.
