Our Take
For over a decade, the X-Carve was a cornerstone of the hobbyist CNC market. Inventables announced in early 2026 that they're sunsetting the belt-driven X-Carve kits to focus on other products (X-Carve Pro). While discontinued, the X-Carve established the template for beginner-friendly CNC: comprehensive kits, integrated software (Easel), and strong community support. Belt drive was the main limitation compared to lead/ball screw machines. At $2,599 it was premium-priced for a belt system, but the ecosystem and support justified it for many. Used machines will remain popular.
